November 22, 2003

On November 15, Brenda Bradford, Business Division Chair and Assistant Professor of Business at Missouri Baptist University, was presented with the “Apple for the Teacher” award from the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Alpha Zeta Chapter. The award highlights the achievements of outstanding educators throughout the Metropolitan St. Louis Area during the Chapter’s observance of American Education Week.

Brenda has been recognized as a Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow for her leadership and support as faculty advisor of the SIFE@MBU team. She is a member of the National Association of Female Executives, St. Louis Area Business Education Association, the Washington University Black Alumni Council, and is a graduate of the CORO Foundation Women in Leadership Program.

Brenda is a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis, IL, where her husband of ten years, Tonnie P. Bradford, is the pastor. Brenda is involved with the church as a Sunday school teacher, social service ministry director, and assistant choir director. Active in the St. Louis community, Brenda has served on the Executive Board of the Urban League Block Unit Association and as a participant in the St. Louis Public Schools "Women of Tomorrow, Train Today" and Career Counseling Programs.

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority is a community service organization dedicated to helping improve the education of every child in St. Louis. The twenty-second annual “Apple for the Teacher” award pays tribute to deserving educators with the same commitment and vision.
