SIFE@MBU Receives Citigroup Grant

For the second year in a row, SIFE@MBU, a Students in Free Enterprise chapter, is the recipient of a Citigroup Foundation grant, this year for $2,500. The Citigroup Foundation evaluates its support based on SIFE’s outstanding community outreach and consistency in the quality of their projects.

This year’s grant will fund SIFE’s second annual business forum in October and the purchase of educational project resources. The funds will also support and expand the student-run business.

“In 2002-2003, seventeen SIFE@MBU members logged 2,590 hours of work. Through their efforts, SIFE@MBU reached 15,807 people including students, teachers and the community. With support through grants, we will aim to educate even more people this year,” says SIFE@MBU faculty advisor and Sam Walton fellow, Brenda Bradford.

Last spring, SIFE@MBU won the regional championship for the second year in the row. Chartered in 1999, MBU members apply classroom experience through outreach programs to teach the principles of market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success and business ethics.
