Over Thirty Join for Ministry and Leadership at Friendly Temple
August 21, 2003
On August 18, Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church in North St. Louis City began Missouri Baptist University’s Foundations for Christian Ministry and Foundations of Christian Theology, two courses leading towards the University’s Ministry and Leadership Certificate.
Over thirty Friendly Temple members are participating in the sixteen-week courses, meeting four times a week. The certificate program in Ministry and Leadership, also available at all MBU locations, encompasses twelve courses in religious studies taught by MBU faculty at the Friendly Temple site.
“This partnership is an example of the continued effort of Missouri Baptist University to fulfill its purpose of educating pastors and other lay leaders, to equip members of the church body,” says Dr. Rick Maclin, MBU Dean of Evening and Adult Programs.
Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church, located on Martin Luther King Drive, has 3,500 members. The church is known for their thirty avenues of ministry opportunities and in-house health education including a cardiopulmonary resuscitation/first aid program. This will be Friendly Temple’s first collegiate partnership for education.
