MBU Offers Coursework at Friendly Temple MBC
August 8, 2003
Missouri Baptist University will be offering coursework leading towards the University’s Ministry and Leadership Certificate at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church. Classes, Foundations for Christian Ministry and Foundations of Christian Theology, will begin mid-August for the fall 2003 semester.
Desiree Peters, Program Coordinator for the Adult Learning Programs, will be on site at Friendly Temple’s Administrative Office, August 15 from 9 AM – 12 PM, to receive applications and answer questions of potential students. In addition, an orientation is open to the public on August 14.
The certificate program in Ministry and Leadership, also available at all MBU locations, encompasses twelve courses in religious studies, taught by MBU faculty at Friendly Temple. Enrolled students participating will have the benefits of a private Christian education—small, personal classes and caring professors. The sixteen-week classes will meet once a week.
“This partnership is an example of the continued effort of Missouri Baptist University to fulfill its purpose of educating pastors and other lay leaders, to equip members of the church body,” says Dr. Rick Maclin, MBU Dean of Evening and Adult Programs.
“Many in our congregation are taking advantage of the convenience of location to benefit both the effectiveness of our missionary efforts and the individual’s personal spiritual development,” says Friendly Temple Pastor Michael Jones.
Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church, located on Martin Luther King Dr. in North St. Louis City, has 3,500 members. The church is known for their thirty avenues of ministry opportunities and in-house health education including a cardiopulmonary resuscitation/first aid program. This will be Friendly Temple’s first collegiate partnership for education.
