Fine Arts Center Recognized by American School & University
April 1, 2003
American School & University, an educational trade magazine, recognizes Missouri Baptist University in their Architectural Portfolio: 2002, showcasing the recently completed Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center.
The Architectural Portfolio competition, the premier competition for school design, features projects that represent the very best in educational interiors and construction. The Center is the only St. Louis university to be honored and joins University of California at Berkley and Harvard College in the 2002 portfolio.
Heralding in a new vision and inspiration for the University, the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center was dedicated in March of 2002. The arts facility faces the campus entrance with a three story rotunda and adjoining Mabee Hall.
Encompassing more than 58,000 square feet—more square feet than a football field—the Chapel and Fine Arts Center is the largest building on MBU campus and one of the most modern performance facilities in St. Louis. Seating 965 and 155 in its auditorium and lecture hall, respectively, the Center also hosts gallery, instructional and recital areas.
The architectural firm for this project is Wm. B. Ittner Inc., under the design team of Executive Vice President, Principle-in-Charge Dennis M. Young and Project Manager D. Gregory Brown.
