RE: Foundation Honors Lifetime Philanthropist, Dr. Dale Williams
Foundation Honors Lifetime Philanthropist, Dr. Dale Williams
February 5, 2003
Missouri Baptist Foundation honored lifetime financial donor, Dr. Dale Williams, Tuesday February 4, during Missouri Baptist University’s chapel service held in the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center.
In life, Dr. Williams was a strong supporter of Missouri Baptist University, providing scholarships to many students who otherwise would not have been able to receive an MBU education. One of her aspirations was to see a new chapel and fine arts complex on campus. In death, Dr. Williams asserted her generosity to the University by making a significant gift through her estate, totaling almost two million dollars. The recently built chapel and fine arts complex on MBU campus now bears her name.
Dr. Williams knew the importance of education having been a teacher for most of her life. She taught Spanish at Central High School in Cape Girardeau, John Burroughs High School, and she served as Chairman of the Foreign Language Department at Brentwood High School.
During the chapel service, Dr. James Smith, president of the Missouri Baptist Foundation, presented a certificate and plaque to recognize Dr. Williams and her lifetime commitment to stewardship, to her nephew, Mr. George Oesterly. Oesterly, recently retired, served for 26 years at the Department of Health and Senior Services.
