RE: New York Playwright and Actor Performs at MBU

New York Playwright and Actor Performs at MBU

November 4, 2002

Rich Swingle performed Big Fish Little Worm, a one-person play including stories of Gideon, Jeremiah, and Lazarus, at Missouri Baptist University on October 8, 2002. With a two-pronged mission, Swingle hopes to encourage Christians in their faith and spread the Gospel to non-believers through his favorite communication form, drama.

Swingle is often accompanied by his wife Joyce, who expands on the themes of Rich’s work through speaking. Joyce frequently focuses on topics of forgiveness, fear and worthiness with Rich providing dramatic illustrations for such events.

Swingle’s office is in the heart of New York City’s Theatre District, located in The Helen Hays Theatre. Swingle inspires diverse audiences, small and large, visiting theatres, churches, universities, retirement centers, camps, retreats, revivals, prisons and even banks of lakes and shores of oceans.

Other plays performed by Rich Swingle include but are not limited to: The Revelation, portrayal of the last book of the Bible, A Clear Leading, an interpretation of John Woolman who spoke out against slavery before the Civil War, and The Acts, bringing life to miracles of the first century church.

In the future, Rich Swingle hopes to bring to life a play titled Beyond the Chariots that will pick up where the Academy-Award winning film Chariots of Fire left him in 1924 and a drama bringing the first covenant to life.
