Bill & Dellanna O’Brien Speak at 2002 Fall Lecture Series

Missouri Baptist University hosted guest speakers, Dr. and Mrs. Bill O’Brien, for the 2002 Fall Lecture Series, October 8-10. Over a three-day visit, the couple gave presentations on advancing technology, women in missions, and their own missionary travels. The O’Briens also enjoyed a reception where they were able to talk on a more personal level with MBU students and faculty. Bill and Dellanna are co-Directors of BellMitra Associates in Birmingham, Alabama, through which the couple conducts workshops in missions innovation and conflict transformation.
The O’ Briens were appointed missionaries to Indonesia in 1962 where they served ten years. Dr. Bill O’Brien served at the Foreign Mission Board headquarters for fifteen years, the last eleven of which were spent serving as Executive Vice President. In 1991 he became the founding director of The Global Center at Samford University and missions professor in Beeson Divinity School. He holds degrees from Hardin-Simmons University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dellanna served as Executive Director of Women’s Missionary Union, SBC, from 1989-1999. She holds degrees from Texas Christian University and Virginia Tech.
