RE: MBC Professor Honored with Distinguished Teaching Award
MBC Professor Honored with Distinguished Teaching Award
April 29, 2002
Chair of the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Missouri Baptist College, Cordell Schulten, received the 2002 Parkway Distinguished Teaching Award. Professor Schulten was presented the award by the College's President, Dr. Alton Lacey, on behalf of Parkway Baptist Church, St. Louis, during commencement ceremonies. The Distinguished Teaching Award is designed to annually recognize a professor with outstanding dedication and enthusiasm.
Professor Cordell Schulten came to Missouri Baptist College with a distinguished law career and a desire to teach. He brought to the College a love for law and a desire to benefit students in their Christian walk.
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, Schulten and his family moved to St. Louis and he began work on his law degree at St. Louis University. After graduating in 1986, Schulten landed a job at a large law firm in St. Louis called Lewis, Rice, and Fingersh, LLC, where he worked for nine years. He then decided to use law to aid fellow Christians and joined a group of Christian lawyers in Clayton, MO, Belz and Jones, P.C.
In addition to his position as Chair, Schulten also serves as Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies and Administration of Justice. He is now working on a Theological Studies Masters at Covenant Theological Seminary.
Schulten has also served as Chairman of the Faith and Learning Committee—formed to provide resources and opportunities for faculty and students to be deliberate in integrating faith and learning. He also preaches on a rotation at Fenton Crossing Bible Chapel.
Schulten and his wife, Sandy, have been married for nearly twenty-five years and have four children, Caleb, Thea, Hannah, and Justin.
