March 20, 2002
Two senior military officers from the NATO headquarters of Allied Command Atlantic (ACLANT) and Allied Command Europe (ACE) will speak at Missouri Baptist College on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 2:30 PM.
The open-forum briefing will feature CDR Barbara N. Paul, U.S. Navy, Operations Planner for NATO Communications, and Major Cezary Siemion, Polish Air Force Public Service Section, Allied Command Europe. The forum will take place in the newly dedicated Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center.
Paul and Siemion will discuss NATO’s history and organization as well as issues relevant to recent times, including NATO’s new strategy for managing peace and dealing with crises and NATO’s efforts to help after the events of September 11.
The NATO briefing team was formed to spread awareness about the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to the American public. The team travels to twenty different metropolitan areas each year to discuss current issues of importance. They will be speaking at various venues in St. Louis during March 25-27.
Other recent venues for team presentations and discussions include Newsweek, CNN, Purdue, MIT, Brown, Columbia, Syracuse and Duke universities, the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and meetings with various U.S. Senate staffs and members of the Canadian Parliament.
