November 9, 2001
Missouri Baptist College will celebrate its 36th anniversary Homecoming Nov 9-11, 2000, with a variety of entertaining and traditional events for its students, parents, alumni and faculty, sponsored by the Student Government and Alumni associations. Traditional MBC Homecoming events include a special chapel service, basketball games, banquet, concert, and numerous reunion receptions.
The schedule of events begins Thursday, November 9, with the annual Homecoming Chapel, this year featuring dean of students, Dr. Andy Chambers, the athletic teams, and presentation of the homecoming court. Various receptions for religious disciplines and extension sites are planned throughout the day. A special exhibition wrestling match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the main campus gymnasium to introduce the new athletic program to the MBC family.
Friday's festivities revolve around the banquet and concert held at the Sheraton Westport Chalet, featuring Christian recording artist Clay Crosse. The traditional presentation of the court and crowning of the homecoming queen will be held during the banquet.
Beginning at 8 a.m. the second annual homecoming run/walk begins Saturday's activities and leads into the Spartan Pride Cup-Intramural/Alumni Powder Puff Football game. The Men's Alumni Basketball Game starts at 11 a.m. and all alumni are encouraged to make reservations for the MBC Family Lunch. Additional constituency receptions are scheduled for the afternoon and the traditional tent supper will be held in the quad from 4:30 - 6 p.m. The women's varsity basketball game against Bethel College begins at 5 p.m. and the men's varsity team plays Sanford Brown College at 7 p.m. The homecoming weekend comes to a close after the games with the traditional coffee shop, the Perk, held in the quad and featuring numerous student groups and up-and-coming Christian artist, Sandra McCracken.
Hundreds of alumni and MBC family are expected to participate in this year's homecoming festivities. For more information about Homecoming events or to purchase tickets, please visit mobap.edu or call the Homecoming Office at (314) 392-2243.
