Missouri Baptist College Students Receive Kurt Warner Scholarship

October 24, 2001

Ruth Bontrager and Sarah K. "Sadie" Johnson, students at Missouri Baptist College, have been awarded the Kurt Warner First Things First Scholarship. They will each receive a $4,000 scholarship payable over four years, which is matched by the College and supported by a work-study program and mentor. Ruth is a sophomore majoring in math from Licking, MO. Sadie is a sophomore communications and religious education major from Ashland, IL. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants had to write an essay about what First Things First means to their life. Applicants were also judged on academic standards, community service, and extracurricular activities. The First Things First Scholar Program recognizes students in St. Louis, MO and Iowa who demonstrate a desire to influence others in a positive manner through their words and actions by rewarding them with a financial scholarship to continue their education. Two scholars will be chosen annually at each of the participating institutions, including Missouri Baptist College, Saint Louis University, University of Missouri - St. Louis, and University of Northern Iowa.
