RE: MBC Named in America's Best Christian Colleges
MBC Named in America's Best Christian Colleges
October 27, 2000
Missouri Baptist College has been recognized for the second consecutive year as one of America's Best Christian Colleges on the basis of an evaluation of the nation's colleges and universities.
Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc., an independent research organization specializing in higher education, surveyed 1,512 four-year institutions to identify schools with an academically superior student body and which incorporate Christian principles and beliefs into the educational environment.
"Missouri Baptist College had a freshman class in the fall of 1999 with American College Testing Program (ACT) college admissions examination average score… significantly above the national average," according to Lewis T. Lindsey, Jr., President of Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc. "The best students are attracted to the best colleges, and the students attending Missouri Baptist College are among the nation's best."
To be considered for the designation of America's Best Christian Colleges an institution must be an accredited, four year college or university which provides facilities for the support of a dynamic on-campus residential education, offering opportunities to qualified students for financial assistance based on need, academics and athletic merits. All colleges must be affiliated with a recognized Christian denomination or be a non-denominational institution providing an educational experience incorporating fundamental Christian principles and beliefs into the instructional and social aspects of the student's lives.
"Missouri Baptist College attracts superior students and provides them a higher quality educational opportunity at a time when interest in a Christian college education is at an all-time high," said Lindsey.
MBC is one of 20 Southern Baptist Colleges—of 53 nationwide—recognized for its superior standing among all Christian institutions. Missouri institutions include Culver-Stockton College, Rockhurst University, Southwest Baptist University, and Saint Louis University.
