RE: MBC Presents Godspell
MBC Presents Godspell
May 30, 2000
April 6, 7, and 8, Missouri Baptist College is presenting the musical production of Godspell. In the past MBC has held several successful performances, including last years performance of West Side Story. Missouri Baptist College hopes to continue the tradition of sold-out productions with this year's performance of Godspell.
Godspell retells the Gospel of Matthew in a fresh contemporary way. Instead of robes and sandals, the cast sports jeans and Nikes. The characters speak in common english, removing the rhetoric of if the King James scripture. Many have a preconceived idea about how the gospel of Matthew should be presented, but this approach is different. The message is the same but the times are different, reflecting the language and style of today's society.
Missouri Baptist College's production of Godspell begins at 7:30 p.m. on April 6, 7, and 8. Seating is limited and shows are expected to sell out. Tickets cost $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.
