RE: MBC Gains Approval for Master's Program
MBC Gains Approval for Master's Program
May 2, 2000
Missouri Baptist College has been approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to offer graduate certification programs in both Counselor Education and Cross-Categorical Special Education. The complete program will begin fall 2000; the majority of courses will be offered during the summer term to accommodate traditional teaching terms. Students may take up to 24 credit hours a year and may complete the coursework within two years.
The Master of Science in Education (MSE) offers two concentration areas: Classroom Teaching and Counselor Education. Students may choose one of five tracks in this program: Counselor Ed Certification, 46-49 hours; Counselor Ed Licensure, 40 hours; Classroom Teaching (Generic), 37 hours; Classroom Teaching (Cross-Cat), 37 hours; and Cross-Cat Special Ed Endorsement; 21 hours.
Students interested in the Classroom Teaching program may choose the Generic track or the Cross-Categorical Endorsement track. The endorsement does not constitute a degree in Special Education, but will allow students to be certified in Cross-Categorical Special Education in the State of Missouri. The courses in the Counselor Education Certification track meet the academic requirements for counselor licensure. All eleven undergraduate tracks are graduate-program approved.
Classes will be offered at all four Missouri Baptist College instructional sites including the main campus in West St. Louis County, the Jefferson College site in Hillsboro, Missouri, the Troy/Wentzville site in Moscow Mills, and the Franklin County extension in St. Clair, Missouri.
Please call Dr. Clark Triplett, Dean of Graduate and Alternative Programs, at (314) 392-2221 for additional information.
