RE: Chapel/Fine Arts
Chapel/Fine Arts
July 1, 1999
Missouri Baptist College will hold a formal ground-breaking ceremony, August 26, 1999, to begin construction on a new 55,000 square foot Chapel/Fine Arts building. The $7.4 Million building is part of the Spirit of Excellence Campaign, an effort to raise $10,000,000 for capital improvements and endowment for the College.
The facility will house the departments of Music and Communication Arts as well as executive offices. Key features of the building are an 1100 seat auditorium, a 250 seat lecture room, and a "great hall" for formal receptions. The communication and music labs will house studio, video and audio control rooms, classroom space, and faculty offices. With the addition of these resources, students will continue to gain valuable experience as they prepare for rewarding careers or graduate study. The surrounding communities will also benefit from a dynamic performing arts facility of this magnitude, the only of its kind in West County.
Missouri Baptist College has successfully matched the challenge issued by the J. E. and L. E. Mabee Foundation, Inc, and will now receive a grant of $1,000,000 to be used toward the C/FA building. including a $2,000,000 challenge grant from the Edwin & Harriett Pillsbury and the William Pillsbury foundations.
