RE: New Approval For Educational Programs
New Approval For Educational Programs
February 26, 1999
Missouri Baptist College has received formal approval from the Department of Early and Secondary Education (DESE) for a third extension center, located in Pacific, Missouri, and a new K-12 Cross-Categorical Disabilities program in Special Education at the undergraduate level.
The Pacific program began in Fall 1998 with verbal approval from DESE, and offers courses leading to a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
MBC will also begin offering a special education course during the May term with plans to offer additional courses in Fall 1999. "Because of the state’s high demand for special education training, this new program is a major benefit to prospective teachers,” states Roberta Ross-Fisher, Education Division Chair and Associate Professor of Education at MBC. The special education courses will be an added endorsement to the early childhood and elementary education majors.
MBC is committed to preparing teachers of excellence and integrity. The programs are built on active, hands-on learning, relevant field experiences, and curriculum that is practical and relevant for today’s educators. For more information please contact Dr. Ross-Fisher at (314) 434-8262 ext. 2331.
