Shining Through

Last week I had the opportunutiy to be stuck in stand-still traffic for about 45 minutes. Most people wouldn't think of this as an opportunity but a curse. This is what I thought at first too. I was thinking, "Man I'm going to be late for class AGAIN! My teacher is going to get so mad." But, despite all of the things that slowed me down and made me angry, God gave me a chance to just sit back and enjoy my morning.

The day was rainy and yucky. The sky was gloomy and no sunshine was to be found anywhere. I was just driving along when all of a sudden everyone slammed on their brakes. Traffic was at a complete stop for no apparent reason I could see. I knew there had to be a pretty bad accident. This went on for about 45 minutes. No accident in sight, just a whole bunch of cars inching forward every couple of minutes. Like I said... I was pretty angry. I despise traffic. In fact, I pretty much hate it, and I don't hate many things. But... as I was sitting there the craziest thing happened. I looked up into the dark gloomy sky and patches of sun were starting to shine through. About 10 minutes later it was getting kind of bright, and then by the time traffic started moving again it was sunny outside. How crazy is that? Of course by the time I got to school it was cloudy again, but it was amazing watching the sun shine through the clouds.

It reminded me of how God is always there shining through, even though we may be angry or life may seem kind of cloudy. John 8:12 says, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." That is pretty stinkin' cool if you ask me. We, his children, will never walk in darkness because the love of God shines a light on our lives. So, next time life seems dark and you feel down and out, remember that God is with you and he loves you so much. His love can shine through even on our darkest days.
