..how God uses everything, and I mean EVERYTHING to speak to us.
"I didn’t ask for any of this!"
"Maybe not, but none the less, you were chosen."
So my family decided to watch Eragon as a family time over break.
Me, I love movies, but not too fond of the dragon fantasy-ish types,
but I like my family to be happy, so we watched it.. and this is what I got out of it...
A quote [above] from a movie about dragons that has everything to do with how I feel God answers when we try to understand with our small minds how big He is and why things happen the way they do.
A lot of bad and hard times come before the good, and as a Christian there are lessons we can only understand and learn through times of trial. It’s so easy to get caught up in asking why does it have to be this way?! But when asking that, our frame of mind isn’t right, it’s not about us. We may not ask for God to do things the way He does, but aren’t you glad He doesn’t listen to us when we try to tell Him how to do things.
It's amazing to me, every time, He's like "No, I really don't think that's the best for you. Wait to see what I’ve got in store." Yet I’m so impatient.
It’s like a kid in the toy store, wanting everything at your sight level that you pass. When your parent tells you to be quiet and wait, and if you're good, you'll get something better in the end. Perhaps something not on your sight level, something you cannot see or comprehend, something even better.
I’ve realized this is what I often do with God. I tell Him I want to be patient, and I’m waiting for His direction, then instead of waiting for him to pick [going with the analogy] which aisle to go down, I repeatedly ask Him, “this one?! OK, this one?! Oh okay, well this one has to be it God.” It’s so easy to do, in every area of our lives.
I was thinking the other day, and it made me laugh, little old me asking the Creator of the universe if He was sure about what He was doing? Really, now, who am I to question anything He says. EVEN if it is silence.
Because His ways are NOT our ways, His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. [Isaiah 55:8-9]
”For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.
"As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
It’s pretty cool though, when you finally sit back and completely trust Him, He just smiles and says "finally, you can receive what I want for you... now watch this!"
