MBU Talent Showcase

Missouri Baptist University is blessed with talented musicians, and on Saturday, February 21 B-Line South and the Jim Richman Band will share the stage for this Hot Winter Nite concert.

Eric and Julia Pitts, Lisa Barrett, and Bryan Schmid have been performing uplifting Bluegrass and Folk music together for over four years as B-Line South. The group is named after the train line that their grandfather took from St. Louis to Mobile while in the Air Force during World War II.

The history behind the music is what drives Julia to perform her best. When asked why she isn’t in a “ministry group,” Julia said that she would rather reach a variety of audiences. She’s grown up around the mellow, bluegrass style and it’s what she loves. Last semester MBU students enjoyed their performance at THE PERK. Their hope for the upcoming concert is that people would listen and enjoy this different style of music.

The Jim Richman Band, featuring Tyler Jackson, Jake Adams, and Jim Richman will then take center stage with their upbeat, acoustic sound. These singer/songwriters have been performing together for over four years and attend De Soto First Baptist Church together. In December Jim led worship for the Missions Chapel, but this will be the first time MBU will experience the music of the Jim Richman Band.
