Christian singer/songwriter Justin McRoberts performed a solo acoustic show at Missouri Baptist University on January 17 as a part of the Hot Winter Nites concert series. In his usual laid-back (and shoeless) fashion, McRoberts delivered a tapestry of soulful singing, stand-up comedy, and strong convictions to a cozy but enthusiastic audience. He may be short in stature, but there’s nothing small about his thoughtful lyrics and intense, emotion-saturated voice. McRoberts’ repertoire also included a collection of songs from his newly released album, Intersections, which explores the subject of spiritual burnout and searching for faith in everyday living. Instead of signing autographs after the show, the anti-celebrity singer mingled and chatted with guests, emphasizing his belief that connecting with fans on a relational level is the most important part of what he does.
