Contemporary
Christian bands Caedmon’s Call and Jars of Clay performed a
joint concert to a nearly sold-out crowd at MBU in February, along
with special guest, Randall Goodgame. Both bands have been highly
successful in touring individually, and the combination attracted
a diverse and enthusiastic group of concertgoers. Folk-rock band Caedmon’s
Call appeared minus former frontman, Derek Webb, who is currently
pursuing a solo project. They entertained the crowd with old and new
favorites from their ten-year history and ended the concert with a
preview of their newest album, Back Home.
Jars of Clay went acoustic for the show, playing revamped versions of their popular hits plus a few unexpected songs, including “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” The set list was put together as the concert progressed, when lead singer Dan Haseltine invited audience members to draw song titles from a hat. Jars of Clay’s newly released double CD called Furthermore features remixed and unreleased studio tracks plus a live concert. The band members presented a completely different side of the performance spectrum from their Eleventh Hour Tour concert at MBU last fall, letting their personalities shine through to create a laid-back and intimate atmosphere.
