The "Seal 2002" is the traditional MBU Seal that has been reworked in a graphic illustration application to add flexibility in use and for a better quality image. The 2002, as with all the element's year notations, is in reference to the year the element's data file was created. Seal 2002 is to be used on a reserved basis -- particularly for official academic documents and those originating with the Board of Trustees.
The Seal is the longest-standing graphic element of the University. It is considered the most formal element the University employs for its graphic identity. Once used for wide-spread use, it is now reserved for more special situations.
The Seal is not to be altered as defined. The normal published size is oneinch square (the one displayed on this page is twice the normal size). It may be enlarged within reason, but it should not be reduced beyond one inch square due to legibility concerns.
