Description: Belschazzar’s Feast is one of the most dramatic works ever composed for chorus and orchestra. The English composer William Walton created a massive work that tells the Biblical story of God’s judgment of the Babylonian kind, who portrayed himself as “king of kings” only to be judged by the hand of God (quite literally) to be “weighed in the balance and found wanting.” The story from the book of Daniel is set to music by Walton with a large orchestra a large chorus and a baritone soloist. It is a work rarely performed, but worth the effort for performers and audience.
