Creating profiles of teaching and support staff can be a very useful way of personifying your Blackboard module. This can be particularly valuable if the mode of delivery offers only a small number of contact hours. By creating staff profiles, the student can feel less like they're interacting with a computer, and more like they're still communicating with a real teacher/lecturer. You can also use the 'Office Hours' field in the staff profile to promote times when it would be most convenient for students to drop in.
Creating a profile:

Click on Control Panel - or if you're in the student view, click on Edit View (top right of the screen) and jump to stage 3 of these instructions...

In Course Tools, click on Staff Information

Choose whether to either add a Profile or a Folder (in which to place the profiles) If there are a significant number of staff profiles to display, folders can be a very useful way of grouping the content in a simple way.

Section 1: Profile Information - fill out the appropriate fields - offer as much or as little information as you wish...

Section 2: Ensure that the profile is visible. If you wish to upload a Profile Image (this is recommended in order to truly fulfil the personification function of Staff Profiles) use the Browse button to find the desired image on your PC/department drive

Section3: Click on the Submit button.

You will receive a receipt acknowledging that the Staff Profile has successfully been uploaded. Click OK.

Check that the Profile is working OK in the student view by clicking back on the course and then browsing the Staff Information section.
