Scholarship Endowments

Scholarship EndowmentsGive to MBU Endowed Scholarships

For as little as $10,000 you can name a scholarship at Missouri Baptist University. A named scholarship provides valuable tuition assistance for a student while memorializing or honouring a loved one, parent, family, friend, or organization. The annual award for an endowed named scholarship is funded by the annual earnings of the scholarship’s endowment from the original funds provided by the donor. Once this scholarship is established, it can continue to be awarded even without continued contributions from the donor.

In establishing a named scholarship, you may define the qualifications needed for eligibility. You may stipulate such factors as academic merit, academic major, required grade-point average, class year, church or denominational affiliation, demographic region, or other special talents or abilities. You can even include a volunteer service or special campus leadership requirement. Please remember when assessing your preferred requirements to allow enough room in the selection process that several students are eligible to apply. The Internal Revenue Service will not allow donors to select specific individuals as recipients of their tax-deductible gifts. A selection committee will review all scholarship applicants, according to the guidelines established by the donor.

Endowed Professorships, Chairs, Academic Divisions

The core purpose of Missouri Baptist University is to teach, empower, and inspire through service and life-long learning. Attracting and maintaining outstanding teachers is imperative if we are to achieve this purpose. An endowed professorship can be established for $175,000 and an endowed academic chair for $500,000. The earnings from these endowments will be used to attract and retain outstanding faculty.

Missouri Baptist University has seven academic divisions with over 40 academic disciplines. All of these offer high quality professional training and preparation. The opportunity exists for naming a discipline with a gift to the endowment of $750,000. The proceeds from the endowment would go to enhance the preparation and continuing training of faculty, the upgrading of equipment and teaching methods, and the enrichment of offerings through special lecture series, field trips, and travel study.

Endowed Lecture Series

Endowing a lecture series requires a minimum gift of $50,000. The earnings from this endowment will enable the University to enrich academic and spiritual growth by bringing noted scholars, artists, and other leaders to the campus for courses, seminars, and special emphases.
