Men's Soccer Signs First Athlete of 2008 Recruiting Class
The Missouri Baptist University men's soccer team has signed its first athlete of the 2008 recruiting class. Damian Bower, a senior defender at Poplar Bluff High School, has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for MBU.
"Damian will be a good addition to the team," said MBU Head Coach Deno Merrick. "Because of the size and type of player he is, he won't have a hard time adjusting to the college game."
Though Bower will have to fight for a starting spot, Coach Merrick is confident that he can make an immediate impact. Coach Merrick is planning to bring in a strong freshman class of local talent to the MBU soccer team. The Spartans finished the 2007 season 9-10-1 overall, and fifth of eight teams in the American Midwest Conference with a 4-3 record.
