Men's Soccer

The Spartan Men’s Soccer Program has signed another local player. Matt Shelton comes to Missouri Baptist University from Poplar Bluff, MO. After a very successful senior season, Matt decided to sign to play for the Spartans. MBU Head Coach Jared Embick says “Matt is a very hard worker that always gives it his all. That is something we look for in players. Matt will come in fighting for spot and will add depth to the defense. We are lucky to get this hard working defender.”

Men's Basketball

The Missouri Baptist University Basketball Program has put the pieces of the puzzle in the right spot that will make them contenders for the National Championship in 2005. MBU has signed eight athletes into an already strong program that is coming off a 26-7 season that saw them ranked as high as number 16 in the nation. Head Coach Tony Tompkins is optimistic on all eight athletes. MBU has signed:

Bryan Williams, 6’7 Forward from Lon Morris College (TX). Bryan comes to MBU after sitting out one season. “Bryan is a big body, with tons of talent. He will give us an added inside presence for this year.”

Eloka Gerard, 6’6 Forward from Cameroon, Africa. “Eloka is an extremely talented athlete. He will be very versatile in the positions that he plays for us.”

Eric Richards, 6’5 Forward from Illinois Central College. “Eric comes to us after his team had a very successful season. Eric can defend every position and will help us with his athleticism and rebounding.”

Erik Hubbard, 6’3 Point Guard from Mineral Area College. “Erik has been with us for a semester after sitting out last season. Erik is very skilled and has great vision and leadership on the court. Erik could have a great impact on our point guard position.”

Jacob Thomas, 6’3 Guard from Francis Howell High School. “Jake is a great local freshman signee for us. He has a lot of skill, a great work ethic, and tremendous potential.”

Jason Fry, 6’1 Guard from Austin, Texas. “Jason is coming to MBU having sat out two years after high school. Jason is a pure shooter and great competitor. He will add depth to our shooting guard position.”

LaRico Coleman, 5’9 Guard from Charleston MO. “LaRico gives us great strength and a defensive presence at the point guard position. LaRico has the potential to be a very good point guard.”

Mike Mortensen, 6’5 Guard from Southwest Illinois College. “Mike is arriving from one of the best Junior College programs in the St. Louis area. Mike can do many things on the court (inside and out) and is a tough competitor.”
