MBU Names New Women's Lacrosse Coach

Thomas Smith, Missouri Baptist University Director of Athletics, is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie Rau as the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at MBU. Though this will be Rau's first collegiate coaching experience, she is no stranger to St. Louis area lacrosse. Her initial experience with lacrosse came when she played four years for the club team at Kirkwood High School. After high school, Rau earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Middle School Education from Southeast Missouri State University. Upon her return to the St. Louis area, Rau was named the Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach at her alma matre Kirkwood High School.

Rau has served as the Head Coach at Kirkwood for three years, where she has overseen the team's transition from a club sport to a school sponsored team. She has also had the opportunity to coach the Central Division girls lacrosse team which travels out East to compete in the U.S. Lacrosse National Tournament. She was honored with the title of Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association Coach of the Year for the 2008 season.

"I am excited about the transition to the collegiate level, especially in the St. Louis area," said Coach Rau. "It’s exciting to have been a part of lacrosse in the Midwest for the past ten years. I have really enjoyed watching the sport grow in this area, and look forward to being part of future growth."
