Spartan Baseball Wins First Game of Region V Tournament
The Missouri Baptist University baseball team defeated Culver-Stockton College in the first round of NAIA Region V Tournament play more than 24 hours after the game started. The Spartans were up 5-0 in the bottom of the 6th inning early Wednesday afternoon, when the game was delayed due to rain. Play was finally able to resume late afternoon Thursday. The Spartans fended off a 9th inning splurge by CSC in the 9th inning to win 6-3. Matt Murray pitched six innings for the win, and Clayton Dill earned the save. Scott Talbert hit a two-run homerun, Clint Massey had a two-run double, and Brandon Patek hit a solo homerun for the Spartans.
MBU will face McKendree University at NOON on Friday on the campus of Lindenwood University. McKendree lost last night's game to Avila College 10-3.
