MBU Baseball Wins First Ever Region Tournament Title
The Missouri Baptist University Spartan Baseball Team will be advancing to the NAIA Super Regional. The Spartans and Lindenwood Lions were tied 5-5 in the 8th inning of the NAIA Region V Championship game, when the game had to be called due to rain. Per NAIA rules, MBU was declared the Tournament Champion and will advance to the Super Regional, because they were the highest seeded team. Oklahoma City University will host MBU in the Super Regional on May 15th-17th. The winner of the three-game Super Regional Series will advance to the NAIA World Series.
Matt Murray got the win for MBU. Clint Massey led the Spartans with 3 RBI on 2-for-4 hitting. The Spartans are now 40-14-1 this season.
