Spartan Sports Weekend In Review

Baseball: On Senior Day, the Spartans honored their seniors with two wins over American Midwest Conference opponent Hannibal-LaGrange College. The Spartans won the first game 9-6, with Cody Poche’ getting the win and Clayton Dill the save for MBU. The Spartans won the second game 13-4, with Aaron Byington pitching for the win. The Spartans improve to 27-13 overall, and atop the AMC with an 11-3 record.

Tennis: Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams were eliminated in the first round of play at the American Midwest Conference Tournament. The women’s team was defeated 5-0 by the University of Illinois – Springfield, while the men’s team suffered a 5-0 defeat to McKendree University.

Track & Field: Sophomore Meagan Hudson placed second in the Invitational 3000m Steeplechase at the Kansas Uniersity Relays, one of the premier collegiate track meets in the country. She posted another NAIA top 5 performance at 11:10.57.

Men’s Volleyball: The Spartans concluded their season at the NAIA Invitational Tournament in Parkville Missouri this weekend. The Spartans lost both pool play matches, eliminating them from the six-team tournament. MBU lost to host Park University on Thursday (26-30, 18-30, 27-30) and Cardinal-Stritch University of Milwaukee on Friday (30-23, 21-30, 24-30, 17-30). They finish the season 18-10.
