Softball Survives First Day of AMC Tournament

The third seed Missouri Baptist University softball team has survived to day two of the American Midwest Conference Tournament in Springfield, Illinois. The Lady Spartans suffered defeat early Thursday afternoon at the hands of the University of Illinois at Springfield. The Lady Prairie Stars used their home field advantage to shut out the Lady Spartans 2-0. Lindsay Parker pitched for the loss for MBU.

In the second game of the day for MBU, Jessica Robinson led her team to a 7-0 shutout of Harris Stowe State University. The loss was HSSU's second of the day, ending their tournament appearance.

The Lady Spartans will face Williams Baptist College at noon on Friday. The two split a double header earlier this season. The winner will advance to a 4:00 game against the winner of the UIS/McKendree game. The loser will head home.
