MBU Baseball Wins First Round Game

The number one seed MBU baseball team shut out the number four seed Harris-Stowe State University 6-0 in the opening game of the American Midwest Conference Baseball Tournament on Wednesday. Aaron Byington pitched nine innings, earning the win for the Spartans. Brandon Patek led the Spartans' offensive attack, hitting 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and four RBI.

MBU will now face the number three seed William Woods University at noon on Thursday. WWU beat McKendree University 4-2 in Wednesday's afternoon game. The number two seed McKendree will face HSSU at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday to determine who will stay in the tournament, and who will head home.
