Spartan Basketball Players Earn AMC Honors
Two members of the Missouri Baptist University men's basketball team received American Midwest Conference honors this past weekend. MBU's Brandon Bishop and Bret Wilson each earned all-conference honors.
Bishop, a 5'10" sophomore guard from Wright City, Missouri, was named AMC First Team All-Conference. Bishop led the Spartans with 16.4 points per game, and led MBU in assists (3.4) and steals (2.3).
Wilson, a 6'5" junior guard from Lee's Summit, Missouri, was named AMC Honorable Mention All-Conference. He led the Spartans in scoring from behind the arc. He finished fourth in the NAIA Division I for three-pointers made per game, averaging 3.4. He shot 36% from three-point range, and was second for the Spartans in scoring, averaging 16.32 points per game.
Jake Hackerson and Deon White also earned AMC Academic All-Conference honors for the Spartans.
The Spartans finished seventh in AMC regular season play, with a 4-10 conference record (6-25 overall). They lost in the first round of AMC Tournament play to 15th ranked Columbia College. Columbia eventually went on to face 10th ranked McKendree University in the AMC Tournament Championship, losing to McKendree 71-75.
