Lady Spartan Basketball Season Ends

The Missouri Baptist University women's basketball team ended its season Thursday night in a 69-50 loss to McKendree University in semifinal action of the American Midwest Tournament. The Lady Spartans finish the season 14-16 and fourth place in the AMC.

The Lady Spartans struggled to control the ball early, as they turned the ball over 17 times in the first half, matching their scoring for the period. The score at halftime stood 32-17 in the Lady Bearcats' favor. MBU managed to regain some composure in the second half, bringing the score to within four with less than three minutes to go in the game. The Lady Spartans were forced to foul in desperation as the final seconds ticked, bringing the final score to 69-50.

Nikia Henry led the Lady Spartans with 14 points. Omega Key contributed 13 points and 19 rebounds. Julie Leach added 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The top seed McKendree will now face the number three seed Columbia College in the championship game of the AMC Tournament on Saturday.
