Women's Tennis Opens Season

The Missouri Baptist University women's tennis team opened play for the first time ever with an 8-1 loss to Truman State University Tuesday night. The youn Lady Spartan program boasted a lone victory in singles. MBU's Katie Hall defeated TSU's Kristyn Sampias in a super-tie-breaker. Hall came from behind to win the first set 8-6, while Sampias claimed the second set 4-6. Hall then re-focused to win the super-tie-breaker 10-4.

The Lady Spartans will have a week off next week, returning to play February 19th at Principia College.

The Spartan men's basketball team was also in action Thursday night, losing on the road to Columbia College 79-68. The loss takes the Spartans to 5-19 overall, 3-8 in the American Midwest Conference. They return home on Saturday when they play host to William Woods University. Play begins with the women's game at 2:00 p.m., with the men's game to follow.
