Women's Basketball Loses to McKendree
The Missouri Baptist University women's basketball team let one get away from them Tuesday night in Muncy Gymnasium. The Lady Spartans, who possessed a 43-39 halftime lead, lost to the McKendree University Lady Bearcats 78-71.
"I give credit to McKendree. They made plays when plays needed to be made, and we didn't. Those plays made the game," said MBU Coach Danny Wingate.
The loss drops MBU to 5-6 in the American Midwest Conference, 10-14 overall. Nikia Henry led the Lady Spartans in scoring, with 21 points. Omega Key added 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Sommer McCauley contributed 13 points.
The Lady Spartans will return to action Thursday at 5:00 p.m., when they host Park University in non-conference play. The men's team will follow at 7:00 p.m., when they take on McKendree in AMC play.
