Track to Send Four Athletes to NAIA Nationals

The Missouri Baptist University men's and women's track teams will send four athletes to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship to be held March 6-8 at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.

On the men's side, Steve Bender, Kenny Kibii, and Justen Hinds will be representing the Spartans. Bender will compete in the 1,000 meter run. His best performance so far was a 2:32.07 at Indiana Wesleyan University on February 18th. Kibii will also be competing in the 1,000 meter run. Kibii also ran his best time of 2:30.12 at IWU on February 18th. Hinds will be competing in the 60 meter High Hurdles. His best time of :08.00 came at the Illinois College Blue Classic on February 9th.

On the women's side, sophomore Meagan Hudson will be the lone representative for MBU. Hudson, who was an NAIA All-American in Indoor Track, Outdoor Track and Cross Country, all in 2007, will have a full plate, competing in the 1,000 meter run, 1 mile run, and 5,000 meter run. Her best times are 3:00.21, 5:12.12, 18:14.93 accordingly.

"From a coach’s perspective, I couldn’t be more pleased with the way these athletes have endured the tough training conditions which Mid-western January and February brought to them," said MBU Head Men's Track and Field Coach Gordon Reiter.

He continued, "They have perservered and are running and training very well in spite of the low wind chill readings and precipitation thrown at them. These guys exemplify All American character as well as All American talent. I look forward to watching them compete!"
