Spartan Baseball Top 25 in NAIA
In the first NAIA Regular-season rating of 2008, (released February 27th), the Missouri Baptist University Spartans have earned the #21 spot. The Spartans, who are also ranked first in the NAIA Region V, were unranked in the national pre-season poll. The MBU baseball squad has gotten off to a 3-3 start. One of the Spartan victories came over #16 pre-season ranked Auburn University – Montgomery. Two of MBU’s losses were to NAIA Top 25 teams.
“We expect to be in the national mix all year,” said MBU Head Coach Eddie Uschold. “It is nice to be in that position. Now we need to start playing more consistently so that we can climb in the rankings and set ourselves up for a post-season run.”
The Spartans have had two home games cancelled this week due to field conditions. They are scheduled to host Central Methodist University in a double-header this Saturday at noon.
