Lady Spartans Advance in Post-Season Play (February 29, 2008)
The Missouri Baptist University women's basketball team improved its win streak to four games with a 74-53 triumph over University of Illinois - Springfield in the first round of the American Midwest Conference playoffs. The Lady Spartans earned a first round home game as the number four seed. UIS went into Saturday's game with a 12-18 record and the number five seed. Spartan Baseball Top 25 in NAIA (February 28, 2008)
In the first NAIA Regular-season rating of 2008, (released February 27th), the Missouri Baptist University Spartans have earned the #21 spot. The Spartans, who are also ranked first in the NAIA Region V, were unranked in the national pre-season poll. The MBU baseball squad has gotten off to a 3-3 start. One of the Spartan victories came over #16 pre-season ranked Auburn University – Montgomery. Track to Send Four Athletes to NAIA Nationals (February 27, 2008)
The Missouri Baptist University men's and women's track teams will send four athletes to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship to be held March 6-8 at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. On the men's side, Steve Bender, Kenny Kibii, and Justen Hinds will be representing the Spartans. Bender will compete in the 1,000 meter run. His best performance so far was a 2:32.07 at Indiana Wesleyan University on February 18th. Kibii will also be competing in the 1,000 meter run. Men's Tennis Picks Up First Win of Season (February 26, 2008)
The Missouri Baptist University men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season, with a 6-3 victory over host Principia College Tuesday night. The Spartans are now 1-1 on the season. Winning their doubles matches were the #1 team of David Conley and Chris Cozad, and the #2 team of Pershard Owens and Nick Jannett. Winning their singles matches were #1 Chris Cozad, #2 David Conley, #3 Pershard Owens, and #4 Nick Jannett. Cozad and Conley remain undefeated in both singles and doubles play this season. Men's Basketall Concludes Regular Season (February 26, 2008)
The Missouri Baptist University men's basketball team concluded its regular season and American Midwest Conference play Monday night in a 63-58 loss to Harris-Stowe State University. The Spartans outshot the Hornets from the field and out-rebounded them as well. However, a dismal 44.4% from the foul line on 8 for 18 shooting proved to be fatal for MBU. With the win, HSSU takes sole possession of fourth place in the AMC and will host its first-round Conference Tournament game for the first time in program history. The Missouri Baptist University basketball teams split in American Midwest Conference action at home on Saturday. The women’s basketball team secured a fourth place American Midwest Conference finish, when they beat the University of Illinois at Springfield 68-59. Spartan Baseball Splits in Tennessee (February 24, 2008)
The Missouri Baptist University baseball team split its games at Union University on Saturday. They are now 3-3 on the season. The Spartans won their first game of the day 4-0 over Huntington College. Cody Poche got the win for the Spartans, pitching six innings and allowing only one hit. Joel Johnson led the Spartan offense with a two-run homerun. The Spartans lost their second game of the day 5-3 to Union University. Six MBU Wrestlers Qualify for Nationals (February 24, 2008)
The Missouri Baptist University wrestling team competed at the NAIA Eastern Regional Tournament on Friday. Six individuals will be competing at the National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa March 6th through the 8th. Two of those athletes placed in the top four at the Regional Tournament: Ike Okenwa placed third in the197 lb. class, and Nigel Kinworthy placed thrid in the 184 lb. class. Kinworthy and Okenwa will be joined at the National Tournament by teammates Matt Collum (157 lb.), Gerald Harris (157 lb.), Jeff Bowman (184 lb.) and Mike Wakim (285 lb.).…

Men's Bowling Qualifies for Sectional Competition (February 22, 2008)
For the fourth consecutive year, the Missouri Baptist University men’s bowling team has competed through a huge field of collegiate bowling programs to become one of the top 64 teams in the nation. Women's Basketball Shocks NAIA #20 Harris-Stowe (February 20, 2008)
The Lady Spartan basketball team upset AMC frontrunner and NAIA #20 Harris-Stowe State University (20-8,11-2) 85-83 in overtime Tuesday night in front of a packed and stunned Harris-Stowe crowd. The Lady Spartans led 39-33 at the half. They extended that lead to 19 points at the 13:00 mark in the second half. Harris-Stowe, led by Chanel Ross (36 points), rallied back to take a two point lead with just under three minutes remaining in regulation. In its first full season of competition, the Missouri Baptist University women's tennis team picked up its first win in program history on Tuesday night. The Lady Spartans defeated Principia College 5-4. The victory was sealed in the last match of the evening, as MBU freshman Lindsay Dixon won her match in overtime. Men's Basketball Loses to UIS (February 19, 2008)
The Missouri Baptist University men's basketball team dropped to 4-8 in the American Midwest Conference, (6-22 overall), in a 103-87 loss to the University of Illinois at Springfield in a make-up contest Monday night. The game had been re-scheduled in January due to inclement weather. The Spartans were led by Brandon Bishop's 36 points. Bret Wilson added 23 points and 8 rebounds for MBU. Men's Lacrosse Splits Weekend Games (February 19, 2008)
The Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse team opened up play for the first time ever this weekend in Columbia, Missouri. The Spartans, facing club teams from the University of Missouri and the University of Iowa, picked up one win already in their young history. The Spartans lost to Mizzou 5-3 on Friday, but bounced back on Saturday, blasting the Hawkeyes 16-6. The Missouri Baptist University women's tennis team opened play for the first time ever with an 8-1 loss to Truman State University Tuesday night. The youn Lady Spartan program boasted a lone victory in singles. MBU's Katie Hall defeated TSU's Kristyn Sampias in a super-tie-breaker. Hall came from behind to win the first set 8-6, while Sampias claimed the second set 4-6. Hall then re-focused to win the super-tie-breaker 10-4. The Missouri Baptist University wrestling team lost to McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois Wednesday night. The Bearcats, ranked second in the NAIA, defeated the Spartans 29-9.
