Weekend Sports Review

Men’s Basketball
The Spartans dropped to 2-9, losing two close games at Grace College’s Hoops for Hope Tournament this weekend (Warsaw, Ind.). They lost to Cornerstone University 75-84 Friday night. They lost the consolation game to Indiana University-Southeast 62-68 on Saturday. Bret Wilson led the Spartans, averaging 17 points on the weekend, The Spartans will return to action this weekend at the Bethel College Tournament in Tennessee.

Women’s Basketball
On Saturday, the Lady Spartans improved their record to 4-5, defeating St. Mary of the Woods College (Indiana) 87-67. April Redus led the Lady Spartans with 26 points (5 three’s), Omega Key recorded a double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds. The Lady Spartans will travel to Miami, Florida this weekend to face Johnson & Wales College and St. Thomas University.

Wrestling
The Spartans competed at the Newman University Open on Saturday. Matt Collum won the 157 lb. weight class. Sean Dietz won the 165 lb. weight class. Nigel Kinworthy won the 184 lb. weight class. Also placing for the Spartans was Jeff Bowman, with a third place finish in the 184 lb. weight class.
