Nikia Henry Named AMC Player of the Week
Nikia Henry, the starting point guard for the Lady Spartan basketball team, has been named the first American Midwest Conference Player of the Week for the 2007-2008 season.
Henry, a junior transfer from State Fair Community College (Sedalia, Mo.), earned the honor for her efforts in the Lady Spartans losses to Park University and Southwest Baptist University. Henry averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3 steals. She shot 14-of-30 from the field, including 7-of-16 from behind the arc.
Standing only five feet, two inches tall, Henry is a big player for the Lady Spartans, dominating from behind the arc, as well as attacking the paint. The speedy guard had surgery to repair an ACL tear this summer, but obviously has not let that slow her down.
