Women's Volleyball Concludes Season

The MBU women's volleyball team concluded its season Tuesday night in first-round NAIA Region V action.j The Lady Spartans fought hard and came within two points of taking the match, but opponent Evangel University came out on top 25-30, 30-27, 25-30, 31-29, 15-13.

The Lady Spartans finished their season 25-13 overall, 11-3 in the AMC. They finished second place in the American Midwest Conference Regular Season and Post-Season Tournament. This is the first time in three years that the Lady Spartans failed to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament, having finished in the Final Four in 2005 and the Elite Eight in 2006.

The Lady Spartans did take home several All-Conference honors at Saturday's AMC Championship match. Junior Tracey Abell took home Libero of the Year honors for the third year in a row. Abell was joined by MBU middle blockers Brittany Lukasek and Randi Tyler on the AMC First-Team, while sophomore outside hitter Lisa Forchee receive Honorable Mention honors. Danielle Deno, Erica DeVilbiss, Brittany Lukasek, Kerry Nolan and Randi Tyler represented MBU on the Academic All-Conference Team.

Congratulations to the Lady Spartans on an excellent season and on all the individual accomplishments!
