MBU Basketball Teams Have Rough Weekend

The men's and women's basketball teams were three states away this past weekend, but their results were the same. Both teams came home from their classics empty handed.

The women's basketball team traveled to Canton, Ohio for a classic hosted by Malone College. The Lady Spartans had a chance to win each of its games, but ended up losing to host Malone 72-69 on Friday and Roberts Wesleyan University (New York) 70-66. They will be in action at home Tuesday night, playing host to St. Louis College of Pharmacy at 5:00 p.m.

The men's basketball team took a short trip to American Midwest Conference rival McKendree University (Lebanon, Ill.) for a classic. The Spartans dropped both games, losing to Union University (Tenn.) Friday night 111-90. Union is ranked 19th in the NAIA Pre-Season Coaches' Poll. The Spartans lost to Mid-Continent University (Ky.) on Saturday 89-76. The Spartans will be on the road again this weekend for two games in the Premier Mortgage Holiday Classic at Washburn University (Topeka, Kans.)
