Lady Spartans Lose on the Road

The Missouri Baptist University women's basketball team dropped to 3-4 on the season with a loss Thursday night at Park University (Parkville, Mo.) The Lady Spartans trailed the Pirates 36-26 at the half. They pulled within three with less than a minute on the clock, but a missed rebound on the defensive end forced MBU to foul, widening the gap to four, The final score was 74-70.

Rebounding proved to be the Achilles heel for MBU. Park outrebounded MBU 54-29, grabbing 34 offensive boards compared to MBU's dismal nine. Park's Ashley Birch led all scorers with 28 points. Nikia Henry led the Spartans with 20 points, with Miroslava Harcegova adding 13 points and April Redus coming just shy of a double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds.

The Lady Spartans will be on the road again Saturday, traveling to NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist University (Bolivar, Mo.) They return home next Thursday to face Park at 5:00 p.m.
