Women's Volleyball Defeats UMSL in Three

The Lady Spartans made quick work of their NCAA Division II opponent Wednesday night, beating the University of Missouri-St. Louis 30-29, 30-16, 30-21. The Lady Spartans were led by Middle Hitter Brittany Lukasek's 16 kills and five blocks. Randi Tyler and Alex Fox each added 11 kills apiece, with Heather Rynd dishing out 45 assists and two service aces. Libero Tracey Abell chipped in 28 digs for MBU.

On Wednesday, Lukasek was named American Midwest Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season, and Abell was named the AMC Libero of the Week for the fourth time and the NAIA Region V Libero of the Week for the third time. Last week, Lukasek registered 91 kills, with a match high of 20 against Williams Baptist College. Abell recorded 157 digs on the week, for the Lady Spartans, and received 165 serves, with a passing percentage of .958.

The Lady Spartans will return home next Tuesday, when they host Hannibal-LaGrange College in an AMC match-up at 7:00 p.m.
