Men's Cross Country Falls Shy of AMC Title

The MBU men's cross country team placed second at Saturday's American Midwest Conference Meet, finishing just four points behind meet champion William Woods University. The Spartans, who had won the meet the past three years, were without team leader Denis-Bull Olinga, who is out with a hamstring injury.

The Spartans were paced by Vincent Morogah, who won the 8k race with a time of 26:40. (Morogah was also last week's AMC Runner of the Week.) Other MBU finishes were: Kenneth Kibii (second), Steve Bender (seventh), Tim Makubuya (eighth), Pat Anderson (14), Ben Malinga (22), Bobby Toppins (23). Bobby Toppins was named the AMC Freshman of the Year.

MBU's Meagan Hudson won the women's AMC Championship 5k with a time of 19:31. MBU will be back in action on November third, as they race at the NAIA Region V Championship hosted by Graceland University (Lamoni, Iowa).
