Volleyball Wins Four in Chicago
The women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to six this weekend, winning all four matches at a tournament hosted by Trinity Christian College (Chicago). The Lady Spartans knocked off Trinity International University (30-20, 30-27, 30-16), host TCC (30-21, 32-30, 30-23), Bethel College (Ind.) (31-29,26-30, 30-28, 30-22, and Graceland University (30-28, 30-17, 30-22). The wins lift the Lady Spartans over .500 with a record of 8-7 (2-1 in the AMC). They will return to AMC action Thursday at Hannibal-LaGrange College.
Cross Country: The 8th ranked MBU men's cross country team reinforced its ranking by running a strong race against several NCAA Division I opponents at Southern Illinois University's Saluki Invitational on Saturday. The Spartans finished in a tie for third with SIU-Edwardsville. Setting the pace for the Spartans was senior Denis-Bull Olinga, who finished 12th with a time of 26:31.27. In the women's 5k, MBU's Meagan Hudson finished 9th, setting a personal record of 19:02.75. The cross country program will race next on October 6th at the Border Wars hosted by SIU-Edwardsville.
Soccer: The men's and women's soccer teams were on the road this weekend, with MidAmerica Nazarene University hosting both teams on Friday and William Jewell College playing host on Saturday. The men's team dropped both games, losing 3-0 and 2-0 respectively. They are now 6-4 overall (1-0 in the AMC). The women's team split its games, earning a 4-2 victory on Friday, but suffering a 5-0 defeat on Saturday. They are now 4-7 overall (0-1 in the AMC). Both teams will return to AMC action Wednesday at Hannibal-LaGrange College.
