Golf Teams Prepare for Regionals, Focus on National Tournament Bid

The MBU Men’s Golf team competed at host McKendree College in the American Midwest Conference Championship in Carlyle, IL at Governor's Run Golf Club April 20th and 21st. After having a very slow start to the spring season, the Spartan Mens Golf Team made a strong run towards year end and captured the 2007 American Midwest Conference Championship. A strong performance by all players on the Spartans squad made this years win convincing. Individually, MBU had four out of five players from the team finish on the AMC All-Tournament Team; Danny Manselle, Cullen Carstens, Michael Smith, and Kyle Jasper. MBU’s Danny Manselle shot a final round of four under par 68 to win the first playoff hole and by doing so he was named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Year. MBU’s Kyle Jasper shot 152 for the two days and won American Midwest Conference Freshman Player of the Year. The MBU Spartans will next head to the Regional Tournament.

The MBU Women’s Golf team traveled to Millikin University April 20th and 21st. MBU’s Prank Desujbha won her third tournament of the spring shooting a 79 on day one and backing it up with a strong 74 to shoot 153 for the two day tournament. Jennifer Lotz placed third. The Lady Spartans play in the Regional Tournament April 23rd and 24th at Stonewolf Golf Club in Illinois.
